The McHenry Public Library is currently accepting applications for a short-term appointment.
Are you passionate about your local library and looking for ways to make a meaningful impact in your community? Consider becoming a volunteer trustee! As a trustee, you will play a crucial role in hiring the library director, establishing policies, securing funding, approving budgets, and advocating for the library's long-term success. Join us in shaping the future of our library through engaging in monthly meetings and ongoing educational opportunities.
The Board of Trustees' regular monthly meetings are on the third Tuesday of every month. Special Meetings may be scheduled periodically throughout the year to conduct Library business.

Library District Trustee Qualifications per Public Library District Act of 1991
- The candidate is a qualified elector of the library district.
- The candidate must have resided in the library district for at least one year before filing papers to be presented to be appointed or filing a nomination petition (packet).
- A candidate is not eligible to serve if they are in arrears in the payment of tax or other indebtedness due to the library district.
- The candidate is not eligible if they have been convicted of any infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or other felony.
