Online Databases for Use Within the Library

  • Ancestry Library Edition™   Instant access to a wide range of unique resources for genealogical and historical research. With more than 1.5 billion names in over 4,000 databases, Ancestry Library Edition includes records from the United States Census; military records; court, land and probate records; vital and church records; directories; passenger lists and more. These collections are continuously expanding, with new content added every business day.
     

  • Antiques Reference Database (p4A) . p4A is a reference source for antiques, collectibles and fine arts. The information in this database is drawn from about 50 leading regional auction houses located throughout the U.S. plus other selected specialist auctions. Because the information in this reference database is used to establish current market values, p4A exercises great care in selecting included auction houses. About 87% of all the information in the p4a Antiques Reference database is totally unique to this site. A large portion of it has NEVER appeared anywhere else on the web. Much of the remaining information is not web searchable using standard web search engines.
     

  • Biography Resource Center -- is a comprehensive database of biographical information on more than 340,000 people from throughout history, around the world, and across all disciplines and subject areas. It combines more than 435,000 biographies from over 1,000 volumes of more than 135 respected Gale sources with more than 538,000 full-text articles from nearly 300 magazines.

ChiltonLibrary provides exclusive photographs, diagnostics designed by instructors, step-by-step repair procedures, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance schedules, wiring diagrams, recalls and Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for automobiles and light trucks in one easy-to-use web site. Since this library subscribes to ChiltonLibrary, you are now equipped with decades of data to maintain your vehicle. Just begin by choosing a vehicle.

  • First Search     FirstSearch is an online service that gives library professionals and end users access to a rich collection of reference databases. With FirstSearch, materials in your library’s collection are highlighted in results from searches in dozens of leading databases. Search for information on a wide variety of subjects from 16 different databases. The Statewide Illinois Library Catalog, known as SILC, is accessible through First Search, as is Find-it Illinois and Ask ? Away.

  • Gale Virtual Reference Library is a database of encyclopedias and specialized reference sources for different types of research. These reference materials once were accessible only in the library, but now you can access them online from the library or remotely 24/7. Because each library creates its own eBook collection, the content you see may vary if you use the database at different libraries (your school, your public library, or your office).

     

  • Grolier's  Helps both young and old with research and research skills, as well as with providing teachers, and librarians the important teaching and research tools that they need for their classrooms and media centers.   • Public Records    The Public Records Electronic Website for Public Libraries. This database provides Public Records information for personal and business use, such as new homeowners, new businesses, foreclosures and sales, and bankruptcies. The database has records for the Counties of Cook, DeKalb, Dupage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will. It is only available in-house.
     

  • ReferenceUSA     A primary source of information on businesses and people for researchers, students, job seekers and government agencies.   • Wilson Web  Public Library Core Collection: Fiction, A Selection Guide delivers information on thousands of works of fiction for adults, either written in or translated into English. Entries provide complete bibliographic data, price, a descriptive annotation, notes about related works, and evaluative quotations from a review when available. Wilson Biographies Plus Illustrated includes in-depth, full-text profiles, with more than 32,000 photographs of the subjects, plus up-to-date bibliographies. With coverage of newsmakers and figures of prominence from a wide range of fields, it encompasses biographical coverage from a host of high quality Wilson biographical resources, including Current Biography, the World Authors Series, and the Junior Authors & Illustrators series.
