Bilingual Librarian I/Associate Librarian – Adult Services

The McHenry Public Library District is looking for a full-time creative, energetic, tech-savvy librarian/associate librarian. Depending on education and qualifications, this position will fall under the salary range of Librarian I or Associate Librarian. The ideal candidate can prioritize projects, and work independently as well as be a team member.  The position performs a variety of tasks including:  reference help, readers’ advisory, technology instruction, collection management and some community outreach.  This position requires daytime, evening, and weekend hours.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required for Associate Librarian; MLS (preferred) required for Librarian I.
  • Previous library reference/reader’s advisory experience.
  • Basic computer and internet search skills.
  • Spanish language skills (translation & interpretation).

Salary and benefits:

  • The salary range for this position is approx. $16.00-22.00 per hour, depending on education and experience.

Building Services Manager

The McHenry Public Library District is looking for a customer-focused individual that has experience managing facilities, ideally a library or non-profit.  This manager will be part of the management team and responsible for custodial and maintenance activities.  This role is responsible for the upkeep and preventative maintenance of manual and automated building control systems, appearance of internal and external library facilities, as well as management of staff and/or contractors providing services to the building and grounds. This position works closely with all library departments to promote a safe, secure, positive and supportive work environment, while planning and prioritizing departmental schedules for routine and emergency maintenance by staff and/or contractors.

Qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience supervising a maintenance staff.
  • At least four years of facility maintenance experience, not including supervisory experience. Library or non-profit experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of various trades including roofing, plumbing, painting, HVAC and electrical systems.
  • Experience with operating a forklift required; forklift Train-the-Trainer certification preferred, but library will provide such training.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Working knowledge of Turbo CAD software a plus.
  • Valid IL driver’s license required with an acceptable MVR; CDL a plus.
